Ten individuals convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced allegations of spreading fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the pair's 24-year age gap.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has not yet been published.

A persistent conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's gender.

Their legal filing states that Owens disregarded any factual proof disproving her claim opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has often echoed these claims on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she was a teacher at his high school.

The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
